Yayoi Kusama Is Bringing Her ‘Infinity Mirror Rooms’ to New York

It’s been less than a month since Yayoi Kusama opened Yayoi Kusama Museum in Tokyo but the Japanese artist is ready for her next show in New York City.

Presenting two major exhibitions, titled Festival of Life and Infinity Nets, across three of the David Zwirner galleries in the city, Kusama will showcase 66 paintings from her My Eternal Soul series, as well as large-scale flower sculptures, a polka-dotted environment, and two Infinity Mirror Rooms in the Chelsea locations.

The first room, decorated in miniature light bulbs to create a hexagonal pattern, can only be viewed from a peephole, while the other room which incorporates stainless steel orbs invites viewers to experience the work from within. The Upper East Side gallery will feature Kusama’s Infinity Nets paintings, famous for its thick layers of paint applied with rounded brushes.

The show will be open from November 2 to December 16 at three David Zwirner Galleries in New York.
